Blind Auditions sollen \u2013 \u00e4hnlich wie Blindverkostungen \u2013 f\u00fcr vorurteilsfreie Bewertungen von Musik sorgen: Ein Vorhang trennt Musiker*innen von der Jury, die Orchesterstellen bestm\u00f6glich besetzen will. Das l\u00e4sst nat\u00fcrlich auch an die Verblindung in der Wissenschaft denken, ein wichtiges Verfahren, um Studienergebnisse objektiver zu machen. Entkopplung, Transkription und Transformation von Klang und K\u00f6rper sind Themen von Jannik Gigers begehbarer Raum- und Videoinstallation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

September will be busy at symbiont. Starting tomorrow, Jannik Giger and Demian Wohler will be installing their space and video installation Blind Audition <\/strong>in the two symbiont spaces, as part of the ZeitR\u00e4ume Basel festival. Vernissage is on Tuesday, September 7, the installation will remain until September 19. It’s about blind auditions: similar to blind tastings, these are supposed to provide for unprejudiced evaluations of music. A curtain separates musicians from the jury, which wants to fill orchestra positions in the best possible way.
This “best possible way” brings to mind (clinical) research, which also wants to eliminate the human factor as much as possible in order to get to the bottom of the pure truth; there, too, “blind testing” is an important concept. An accompanying series of talks is interested in these parallels in art and science, both from a philosophical and a structural perspective:
