today, 5pm: Jens Hauser, Fruitful Misunderstandings between Art/Science. Auditorium
16.5., 5pm: screening of The Mushroom Speaks, by Marion Neumann (followed by q&a with the artist ), Auditorium
THE MUSHROOM SPEAKS explores the healing qualities of fungi and their ability to regenerate. This personal journey takes on a walk alongside parasites, symbionts and decomposers offering ideas of both interconnectedness and collaboration. Driven by a vision of resistance, the encounters seek possibilities of renewal and question what connects us when the world seems to be falling apart. With mushrooms and their allies the film invites to imagine a myco-cultural (r)evolution. What if the fungus could help us address and radically change our relationship to this world?
15.5., 5pm: LUMPENSTATION live radio, Auditorium
« People like to do strange things, but for sure, they actually prefer: to believe in strange things. As a compulsive collector, it was quite normal to start a collection of urban legends and Maybe in order to contribute to the genre, make some invention myself… »
For this spoken words performance Andrea Marioni associated with Hardwean’s tunes to explore experimental narratives and fabulations. A model scale city open to a series of tales, presents a character who creates his own personal practice as « urban legend maker ». Using real time arrangements, the artists look for a permanent oscillation between a projected word, troubles in the truth and tales becoming true.
art/tech/science in flux project space for Art Basel
︎One exclusive venue in the heart of Basel, a variety of spaces and actors to reflect art/tech/science from a research perspective
•
During Art Basel we will install an improvised joint lab for mainly artist run/independent initiatives active in the field of digital and research based art in the former university building of the section of conservation biology, on the left bank of the Rhine river.
•
The invited initiatives will bring their offices/labs to Basel for a week and will showcase a piece of current research in their designated lab space.
Local collectives will add their spice to the mix: food/music/performance.
•
The old university building will also serve as a conference venue, we’ll host a series of talks/discussions/lectures/screenings in the old auditorium.
“Artists are not scientists! Or are they?” — a lecture/performance series.
